Physical Therapy Treatments

The Three Elements of Healing: 1) creating a therapeutic relationship; 2) building a client-focused treatment plan; 3) implementing research-based treatments.

Creating a Therapeutic Relationship: At Canine Fitness Zone (TM) your dog will be treated with compassionate care beginning with their introduction to the treatment room specifically designed from the dog's point of view. Soft flooring provides a slip-free surface, low lighting provides a low stimulus environment, and calming scents infuse the room. Your dog will be given time to explore the environment while you visit with the therapist about your dog's needs.

Building a Client-focused Treatment Plan: After your dog has been evaluated, the therapist will provide you with therapeutic options for the treatment of your pet. You choose the option that best fits your needs. The therapist contacts your referring veterinarian to share the treatment plan.

Implementing Research-based Treatments: Healing always begins with the critical thinking skills of the therapist. Based on your dog's needs, they will combine modalities - cold laser, electrical stimulation, dry cold compression, or therapeutic ultrasound - with manual treatments - joint mobilizations, stretches, trigger point work, strain/counter strain - to heal the injured tissues. When the tissues are healed, the application of therapeutic exercises 'holds' the healing while ensuring the dog returns to their highest level of function.
