Endorsed by veterinarians, canine physical therapists, and certified pet dog trainers

At CFZ our mission is to use anatomically correct physiology-based exercise methods to build happy, healthy, winning dogs for life. Founded on the concept that research-based human exercise methods have not yet been fully integrated into the canine model, CFZ was created to be the premier outlet for cutting edge exercise methods. The core of the program is the patent-pending Foster Canine Stretch Method which is endorsed by veterinarians, canine physical therapists, and certified pet dog trainers. The stretch method is a physiology-based stretching system with the potential to optimize movement by keeping muscles long and supple, prevent overuse and training injuries, and decrease pain/stiffness in aging dogs.

There are two exercise tracks at Canine Fitness Zone. The Elite Track, designed for the competitive canine athlete, emphasizes exercises that improve movement and decrease over-use and training injuries. For conformation competitors these exercises can improve muscle tone, maximize breed-appropriate reach and drive, and improve top lines. (Please see the Winner’s Circle Tab for dogs who train with CFZ). For agility, flyball, field work, pulling and other high drive activities, CFZ exercises can potentially increase competitiveness by decreasing over use injuries commonly seen in these dogs whose drive frequently overcomes what their bodies can physically handle (Please see the Competitive Edge Tab for dogs who train with CFZ).

The Wellness Track is designed for any pet who would like to improve their fitness. For humans, consistent exercise programs decrease chronic diseases and increase longevity. The same is true for dogs. Some of the most commonly seen canine injuries and diseases are exacerbated by obesity. The CFZ Wellness Track provides a four week veterinary supervised Canine Fitness Program that includes pre and post-program screens, dietary management, and an exercise program. All of these components are found in our Canine Fitness Journal (this journal is currently being reviewed by veterinarians and is not yet available.) The Wellness Track also offers a Fit for Life seminar.

Canine Fitness Zone teaches the Elite Track and the Wellness Track in seminars throughout the year. All seminars include stretch and strength & conditioning exercises and are designed as half day seminars. The Elite Track offers The Winners Circle Seminar for conformation competitors and The Competitive Edge Seminar for high drive competitors. The Wellness Track offers the The Trim for Life 4 week exercise program and the Fit for Life Seminar for pets.

If you would like to join the Canine Fitness Zone team, please contact us. The Fort Collins, Colorado CFZ is currently training CFZ Master Trainers. Individuals who pass this two-day training course are certified to teach at any CFZ throughout the United States. Master Trainers are also eligible to purchase a CFZ License to teach the classes anywhere in the world.

Flab to Fab Finale
The Flab to Fab Finale was a wonderful success for all of the participants. All the dogs lost weight and their families report they learned enough to keep them on the right track.

The 2009 Winner was Baily with a weight loss of 4.6%. Congratulations to Bailey and his humans David KcKibbin and Janet LeGros.

The next weight loss program will begin in the fall. Be well, and have a fun summer!
